Healthy Food Choices

Working moms and dads struggle to find time together on busy days, so mealtime can be a that special time to reconnect. However, add the challenge of making healthy food choices that everyone will actually eat - that's a full-time job in itself.

I will make it easier on you with having one place to find collections of helpful, relevant resources for working parents. Your Goal for today is to make mealtime healthy AND enjoyable!

Do You Have Picky Eaters?

I have 2 very picky eaters, however they do enjoy healthy food choices, so here are helpful ideas to involve them more for a pleasant mealtime event.

Tip #1

Don't ask them to try something new. Just put it on their plate. We have a 1 bite rule at our house. Do it, get dessert or their favorite snack later, regardless of Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down on the taste. Don't do it. Nada, end of story. Their choice and their chosen consequence.

Tip #2

Stay present while you are preparing the food. And definitely when everyone begins to gather around the table. Listen to conversations so you can relate to them and connect their day's experiences and perspectives back into the security of your family.

Tip #3

With young children, look at the food through their eyes. Is there a "mystery image" lurking within - volcano in the eggs, shift food to make a happy face or shape on the plate. The possibilities are endless by focusing on your goal which is...a pleasant, successful family mealtime!

Sack Lunches for Picky Eaters

Healthy Food Choices in Sack Lunches for Picky EastersIt's school time again so for many parents that translates into Sack Lunches. Things sure are better for kids as lunch options than the standard peanut butter jelly sandwich, crackers and fruit I remember staring back at me everyday as a kid.

BUT I also believe this has created very picky kids, especially when it comes to what they will eat. Without mom or dad isn't watching making sure they have cleaned their plate, I'm guessing the school trash can is fed well every single day.

Try these suggestions that work for my kids so they can make healthy food choices.
